Horse Show Tip # 8 – Educate Yourself

Horse Show

You Should Know the Class Requirements (Photo credit: Mike Miley)

When you go to a horse show, make sure you are educated with respect to the requirements and specifications of the class. Know the rules, tack requirements or restrictions, and the class specifications. Being educated is half the battle of showing your horse. If you know the requirements then you will know how to prepare your horse.

Have you ever been eliminated from a class because you didn’t know the requirements? As a judge we have to know the rules and if people come into the ring with the wrong equipment  we have to excuse them.
Share an experience in a comment about how NOT knowing the rules shaped how you ride now. Just put it in a comment and submit it so everyone can learn for you.
